Dr Kathryn Grushka is a visual artist and visual education academic. Her research interrogates the contribution of visual art education to the intuitive, critical and creative aspects of how individuals construct meaning for themselves as lifelong learners. Dr Grushka is researching the connections between learning and well being, creativity and the embodied act of artmaking. Drawing on the performative power of images and their narrative capacities her projects explore the links between imaging as agency, the role of affect, memory and experience in learning and re-representational acts as identity work in the construction of the contemporary subject.
